“The Why of Believing” Sunday A.M., Jan. 13, 2013

Scripture Reference: Luke 23:33-46, Acts 2:32-47

As Christians, are we truly believing on the Person of the Lord Jesus Christ or has He simply become another name to us?

God has promised His children all the benefits of His kingdom. He has promised us eternal life with Him one day and even an abundant life with Him NOW...in this life.

You see, God isn’t simply the One in Whom we believe...He IS why we believe.

“The How of Believing” Sunday A.M., Feb. 3, 2013

Scripture Reference: Luke 23:33-46, Acts 2:32-47

A little child can take a toy without a battery in it and in his imagination still “play” and make it do what he wants; however, that toy can be a lot more fun when it has power- when it has a battery.

We, as Christians, are like that little child in that we are trying to make Christianity “play” for us...without any power. God wants us to get the “batteries” of His power in our lives.

He doesn’t want us to simply “play” in our Christian lives; He wants us to truly LIVE!

“What Are You Filled with?” Sunday A.M., Feb. 24, 2013

Scripture Reference: Acts 19:29

In many ways, the things in this life are simply a matter of perception. Some see a glass of water as being half full; some see it as being half empty. No matter how one perceives the glass, they are both full of something.

This is also true in our Christian lives. What are we allowing to fill our lives? Are we trying to be half full of God and half full of the things of this world?

God doesn’t want His people to simply be half full. He wants to fill our lives completely.

“There Is a Work We Must Do” Sunday A.M., March 3, 2013

Scripture Reference: Luke 23:33-46, Acts 2:32-47

Leadership isn’t a position of power; it is a position of example. Jesus Christ, the greatest Leader this world has ever known never forced a single follower; he simply led by example.

God needs His people to do so much more than simply believe today, but as the ultimate Leader, He cannot force us. God cannot do anything except what we allow Him to do. Rise up, Christian, and lead by godly example! He has a work for you to accomplish.

“It’s Not About Them; It’s About Us” Sunday P.M., March 3, 2013

Special Speaker: Bro. Gordon Alley

Scripture Reference: Joshua 24:13-15

If God had a special task for you to accomplish, could He count on you?

God is searching for those that are humble and willing to be used...no matter the cost. He is looking for those who will say, “Even if I am the only one that serves Him in my family or in my generation, I will do it!”

Today, it seems as if everybody is sitting around and waiting for God’s people to rise up and serve Him, but are forgetting a very simple truth: we ARE God’s people! Can He count on US to do His work?

“Opportunity” Wednesday P.M., March 6, 2013

Special Speaker: Bro. Gordon Alley

Scripture Reference: Philippians 4:9-13

Opportunity- A set of circumstances that allows us to do something.

“Success always comes when preparation meets opportunity.” - Jon Acuff

God wants us to live in such a way that he CAN give us opportunities. He wants us to strive at always being prepared. When He sends the opportunities, are we are ready to be used?

The determining factor between success and failure is one simple word: DO!

“Meekness” Sunday P.M., March 10, 2013

Scripture Reference: James 1:19-22

Many think that they conquer and that they hold the power when they lose their temper and get angry. Having a meek and humble spirit is often viewed as being weak. However, the Bible teaches that meekness is NOT weakness. Meekness is strength under control.

In order to develop this strength within our souls, we need to allow the Word of God to do a work in our lives so that we, in meekness and humility, can become doers of His work.

Are you allowing God’s Word to do a work within you?

“Substance, Wisdom, Prudence” Wednesday P.M., March 13, 2013

Scripture Reference: Isaiah 6:13, Luke 8:10-15

Jesus Christ is the personification of righteousness. Satan is the personification of evil. Jesus desires to lift us up and to grow us. Satan only desires to bring us further down into destruction. The type of substance that we allow ourselves to be filled with will determine which direction we go.

In order to lift us up and grow us, Jesus wants to fill us with the substance of His Word. He wants to plant His holy Seed into our lives and let it transform us. In order for His Seed to grow properly, we must be that “good ground”, receive His Word (substance), and keep it.

“How to Believe: What Do We Do?” Sunday A.M., March 17, 2013

Scripture Reference: Luke 23:33-46, Acts 2:32-47

Jesus said, “This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.”

Success in the Christian life begins with believing Christ and His Word. That belief should then motivate us to action.

This work of God is a work of faith in our heart which produces a power in our lives.

Do you truly believe? Are you allowing God to work the work of faith in your life?

“The Law Is Our Friend; Our Enemy Is Sin” Sunday P.M., March 17, 2013

Scripture Reference: Romans 7:1-14

Revive means to give new strength or energy to and “revival” means to come alive to that which is holy, just, and good. Unfortunately, it seems that in today’s world, many are becoming revived to sin and destruction rather than to godliness and life.

Many Christians do not understand the graciousness of the law in that it shows us the things that are destroying us and points us to the Saviour. God’s law is good.

“How Do You Receive Wisdom” Wednesday P.M., March 20, 2013

Scripture Reference: Proverbs 4:20

When you decide to go in the way of evil men, you never know how long you will be in their clutches. This is why we desperately need God’s wisdom to keep us from these destructive paths.

The word wisdom is mentioned 53 times in the book of Proverbs. God wants to fill us with His wisdom and even gives us the tools we need to obtain it.

Thirst after wisdom.

“Teaching People to Believe” Sunday A.M., March 24, 2013

Scripture Reference: Luke 23:33-46, Acts 2:32-47

People are watching you everyday. When the book of your life is written, what will it say? The world wants to see Christians that live out with power what they say they believe. Do you truly believe that the Holy Spirit can give you victory over sin in your daily life or that God can fill us with His grace in dealing with difficult circumstances?

How do we teach people to believe? We must first show the world that WE believe by living it out in our day to day lives.

“The Illustration of Scriptures” Sunday P.M., March 24, 2013

Scripture Reference: Genesis 18:17

The book of Genesis gives us a powerful illustration about what causes destruction to come to our homes, our cities, and, ultimately, our country.

When pride, idleness, and a lack of compassion for the poor and needy enter into our hearts, destruction is imminent. These are the issues that will bring ruin upon our country and will tear down the very foundation which our forefathers have built. What kind of legacy are you leaving? A humble attitude, a hard-working spirit, and a compassion for those around you is a legacy that will last.

“Knowledge, Wisdom, Understanding” Wednesday P.M., March 27, 2013

Scripture Reference: Proverbs 4:11

Knowledge is knowing what God knows, wisdom is putting what God knows to work, and understanding is knowing the difference between knowledge and wisdom.

These three qualities are vital if we seek to live victorious Christian lives. If the devil can keep us from obtaining these three qualities, he can keep us walking in the flesh and in defeat. God has more for us than a mediocre existence as a Christian. Keep thirsting after wisdom!

“What Will You Give for Him?” Sunday A.M., March 31, 2013

Scripture Reference: Mark 8:34-38

The great D.L. Moody once heard a preacher say, “The world hath not yet seen what God can do with a man wholly surrendered unto Him.” Pricked in his heart, Moody responded with fervor, “By God’s grace, I will BE that man.”

Christians today are holding on to various things in their lives rather than giving them to God. In so doing, they end up losing that part of their soul that God wants to grow.

God wants to grow you...will you give your life wholly to Him?

“Taking the Name of God” Wednesday P.M., April 3, 2013

Special Guest SpeakerBro. Brian Hasse from First Baptist Church, Hammond, IN

Scripture Reference: Exodus 20:7

Many times when we read the commandment about “taking the Lord’s name in vain” we interpret it as not using God’s name as a curse word. However, the Bible doesn’t say “use”; it says “take.” When a wife “takes” the name of her husband, she becomes identified with him.

How are we “taking” God’s name in our lives? Are we truly identifying ourselves with Him in every aspect of our lives?

“Showing Thy Strength unto This Generation- Part 1”  Sunday A.M., April 7, 2013

Scripture Reference: Psalm 71:17-19

When a person is born, there is another generation that is coming to an end. It is estimated that a person has the ability to influence at least three generations in his lifetime.

The only Jesus that this world sees is the Jesus that’s in your life. We were created to glorify God in everything that we say and do. Are you striving to show God’s strength to the generations that follow you?

God has given us great and exceedingly precious promises in His Word about how we can live a life according to His divine nature. The more we learn to trust these promises; the more we can confidently live our lives to glorify Him in every aspect and show that glory to this generation.

We should not take these promises lightly because we have a God that can never lie. His Word is sure. Trust Him!

“A Short Man Who Became Tall” Wednesday P.M., April 10, 2013

Special SpeakerBro. Gordon Alley

Scripture Reference: Luke 12:25

The book of Luke reveals to us the story of a man who rather than looking at his physical restrictions looked at an opportunity that Jesus placed in His life. As a result, his life was transformed.

There may be certain things in our lives that we have no control over changing. However, there are numerous life-changing opportunities that God DOES place in our lives. How will we view these opportunities?

“Turning Your World Upside Down” Sunday P.M., June 23, 2013

Special SpeakerMissionary to Haiti Bro. Biz Lerisse

Scripture Reference: Acts 17:1-9

The book of Acts tells us that Paul and Silas went from town to town preaching the Gospel and as a result developed a reputation of being those that “turned the world upside down.” In our American culture today, how easy it is to become complacent about sharing the Gospel with our friends, family, coworkers, and folks in our city. God give us the boldness again to preach the love of the Gospel to a dying world. May we, in this generation, also be known as those that turned OUR world upside down for Christ!

“Ask the Why” Sunday A.M., February 1, 2015

Scripture Reference: 2 Timothy 3:1

Today, we live in a world filled with toxic people and toxic ways. Unfortunately, each one of us in various ways has picked up these toxic behavior patterns; however, the Bible gives us insight in overcoming the toxicity in order to live healthy and productive lives. One of the most destructive toxic behaviors consuming our culture today is narcissism (love and obsession of self). In this message, we are challenged to look into the “why.” Why should I listen to what God has to say about my life? Why are God’s ways superior to man’s? God has answers for us!
